Questions we're often asked.
A few of the things people and families want to understand before getting in touch. If your question isn't here, we're happy to answer it directly.
Before booking
Adults whose daily function, confidence or safety at home is becoming harder - for example after a hospital discharge, with increasing falls, or growing difficulty with washing, dressing or preparing meals. It's also for families who are concerned about a relative coping at home.
Yes. A structured video assessment lets the therapist see your home and daily routines in their real context - often with family present to help. Where an in-person assessment would serve you better, we'll tell you during the suitability call.
Over a 90-minute video call, Mariam guides a gentle walk-through of the home, room by room, looking at how everyday tasks are managed and where confidence or safety has changed. Nobody is asked to do anything that feels unsafe, and there is no rush. Family members or carers are welcome to join.
Some situations are better served face to face. If that applies, we'll tell you before any payment is taken and help you understand the most appropriate next step.
Start with an enquiry through the website form, or call us on 07879 279739, and we'll arrange a free suitability call. If it's the right fit, we send a secure Stripe payment link. No payment is ever taken through the website, and never before that call.
During the review
Absolutely. Family can join the video call from any location, which often makes it easier to involve the people who help and to agree on next steps together.
That is very common, and it is rarely a barrier. A family member, friend or carer can help set up the call and stay present throughout if that helps. We send clear, simple joining instructions beforehand, and the free suitability call is a chance to check the remote format will work comfortably for everyone before anything is booked.
No. Living Enabled is independent, with no commercial ties to suppliers. Any recommendations are made solely in your interest, so you can source what you need wherever suits you.
The report and next steps
Your report brings together the main concerns, the relevant observations from the assessment, and practical recommendations. It sets out what to address first, what can wait, and the next steps to consider - written in plain English and delivered within five working days. It is yours to keep and share with anyone helping you.
You'll have a 30-minute follow-up call to talk it through and ask questions. After that, what you take forward - and when - is entirely your decision. There's no obligation and no pressure to proceed.
Yes - it is written to be shared. Families often pass it to other family members, a community therapist, social care or a GP. Who sees it is always your choice.
Other important questions
No. The Home Function Review is an assessment and a written action plan - not ongoing therapy or hands-on treatment. It gives you a structured picture and practical recommendations to act on in your own time.
No. Living Enabled is an independent private service, delivered by a clinician who also works as a Senior Occupational Therapist in the NHS. You do not need a referral, and using this service does not affect any NHS care.
You can cancel or reschedule your assessment up to 48 hours before it for a full refund. If you cancel within 48 hours, or miss the appointment, we keep a late-cancellation charge of £125 to cover the reserved time and preparation and refund the balance - though we will always try to find another time that works for you first. Your legal cancellation rights are set out in our Terms of Service.
We are not an emergency or crisis service. If someone is unwell or at immediate risk, call 999. For urgent medical advice, call NHS 111. The free suitability call also checks urgency, so the right route is found before any booking.
